Meaning
A contradiction makes visible why an obvious improvement creates an unwanted consequence. It exposes the real conflict between requirements.

Structure
If X increases, useful effect A improves but B worsens. If X decreases, B is preserved but A worsens. The next task is to separate the requirements or change the mechanism.
